Terms of Service
Settlr helps you record and split shared expenses. It does not move, hold, or process money. All payments happen directly between you and the people you owe, outside the app. Settlr only keeps track of who owes whom.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Settlr ("Settlr", "we", "us", "our"), an app operated by an independent developer based in India. By creating an account or using Settlr, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Settlr.
1. Who can use Settlr
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to use Settlr. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your account secure.
2. What Settlr is — and isn't
Settlr is a record-keeping tool for tracking shared expenses and balances between people. Settlr is not a payment service, money transmitter, bank, or financial institution. Balances shown in the app are your own records and estimates; they are not statements of legally owed debt, and Settlr is not a party to any settlement between you and others. Any actual money you exchange is arranged and paid entirely between you and the other people, using your own payment methods.
3. Your account and content
- You are responsible for the expenses, groups, contacts, notes, and other content you add.
- Only add other people's information (such as a name or phone number) when you have a legitimate reason to, so you can split expenses with them.
- You keep ownership of your content. You grant us the limited permission needed to store and display it to you and to the connections you share it with, so the service can work.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Settlr for anything unlawful, fraudulent, or abusive.
- Attempt to access other users' data, break the app's security, or disrupt the service.
- Upload malicious code, or scrape or overload the service.
- Impersonate others or add people's data without a legitimate purpose.
5. Sharing with connections
When you add someone to a shared expense or group, the relevant details become visible to that connection so balances stay in sync. Only share expenses with people you intend to share that information with.
6. Service availability
Settlr is provided "as is" and "as available". We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time, and we don't guarantee the service will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.
7. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Settlr is provided without warranties of any kind. We are not responsible for the accuracy of balances, for any disputes between you and other people, or for any money owed or exchanged between users. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from your use of Settlr is limited to the amount you paid us to use it (which, for the free app, is zero).
8. Termination
You may stop using Settlr and delete your account at any time via Settings → Delete Account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe pose a security or legal risk.
9. Privacy
Your use of Settlr is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what we collect and how it is handled.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be communicated within the app. Continuing to use Settlr after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
